1. Your agreement with us
These Terms of Service ("Terms") form a binding agreement between you and [Company Legal Entity Name] ("Untangle", "we", "us"), the operator of the Untangle app and website (the "Service"). By creating an account, signing in, or using the Service, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy.
If you don't agree, please don't use Untangle.
2. What Untangle is
Untangle is a mental clarity, journaling, and AI-assisted reflection tool. It helps you capture what's on your mind, organize it, and reflect on patterns over time. It is a software product — not a medical service, not therapy, not a crisis line, and not a substitute for professional care.
3. Accounts and age
To use most of Untangle you need an account. You're responsible for keeping your credentials private and for activity on your account.
You must be at least 13 years old to use Untangle. In the EU, UK, and other jurisdictions where the digital age of consent is higher, you must be at least 16 years old or the minimum age required by your local law. Where required, a parent or legal guardian must consent on your behalf.
4. Subscriptions and billing
Untangle offers free and paid plans. Paid plans ("Premium") are recurring subscriptions billed monthly or yearly through our payment processor, Stripe. By subscribing, you authorize us (via Stripe) to charge your payment method on a recurring basis until you cancel.
- No lock-in. You can cancel anytime — no contracts, no minimum term.
- Self-serve cancellation. You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time through the Stripe billing portal, accessible from your Billing page in Untangle.
- End of period access. When you cancel, you keep paid access until the end of the current billing period.
- Refunds. Except where required by law, payments are non-refundable.
- Price changes. We may update Premium pricing for future billing periods with advance notice; existing Founding Member pricing is locked as described below.
5. Founding Members
"Founding Member" is a promotional, early-access subscription tier offered to the first members of Untangle. It includes a locked-in price for as long as the subscription remains active, and may include limited lifetime access benefits if those benefits are described in-app at the time of purchase.
Founding Member status is a promotional subscription tier and does not confer ownership, equity, shares, investment rights, or legal stake in Untangle.
Founding Members do not receive ownership, equity, voting rights, revenue share, governance rights, partnership status, or any securities or investment interests of any kind. The Founding Member tier is solely a discounted, early-access subscription.
If your Founding Member subscription is canceled or lapses, any lifetime access benefits explicitly stated in-app at the time of purchase will continue to apply on a non-paying basis, subject to these Terms. Promotional pricing for re-subscription is not guaranteed once a Founding Member subscription has lapsed beyond the grace window described in-app, if any.
6. Acceptable use
You agree not to use Untangle to:
- Break the law or harm others.
- Send spam, abuse, harassment, hate speech, threats, or content that exploits or endangers minors.
- Attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape at scale, or disrupt the Service, other users, or our infrastructure.
- Submit malware, attempt unauthorized access, or probe for vulnerabilities outside our responsible disclosure process.
- Use the Service to generate content that violates the rights of others or applicable law.
7. AI output
Untangle uses AI models to reflect, summarize, and respond to what you write. AI responses can be inaccurate, incomplete, biased, or out of date. They are generated automatically and do not represent the views of Untangle or its staff. Treat AI output as a starting point for your own thinking, not as fact, advice, or instruction.
8. Not medical, therapy, or crisis care
Untangle is not a medical device and is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any condition. Nothing in the Service is medical, psychological, legal, or financial advice. Untangle is not therapy and not a crisis service.
If you are in crisis or thinking about harming yourself or others, please contact your local emergency services or a qualified professional. You remain solely responsible for any decisions or actions you take based on what you read, write, or generate in Untangle.
9. Your content
You own what you write in Untangle. You grant us a limited license to host, process, and display your content solely to operate and improve the Service for you (for example: storing your entries, generating reflections, syncing across your devices). We do not sell your personal data. See the Privacy Policy for details.
10. Termination
You can stop using Untangle and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate accounts that abuse the Service, violate these Terms, send spam, attempt fraud, or use Untangle in a way that is harmful to other users or to us. Where reasonable, we'll give notice first.
11. Disclaimer of warranties
Untangle is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. We do not guarantee any specific mental health, productivity, emotional, or life outcome from using the Service. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that AI output will be accurate.
12. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Untangle and its officers, employees, and contractors will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, data, goodwill, or wellbeing, arising out of or related to your use of the Service. Our total aggregate liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the greater of (a) the amounts you paid us in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim, or (b) USD 100.
13. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of [Jurisdiction / Governing Law], without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Disputes will be brought exclusively in the courts located in that jurisdiction, except where mandatory consumer protection laws say otherwise.
14. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. If the changes are material, we'll notify you in-app or by email before they take effect. Continued use of Untangle after the effective date means you accept the updated Terms.
